A five-year-old boy died after he fell off the balcony of an eighth-floor apartment in a high-rise housing society in Noida on Friday, said officials. The boy was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead, they added. "A five-year-old boy died after falling from the 8th floor of Hyde Park Society in sector 78, Noida, under police station 113 area. All the family members were asleep (during the incident). The family said that sometimes, the child used to wake up early in the morning and roam around in the house. Today, the child fell from the railing made for pots above the grill from the eighth floor at around 05.45 am. He was taken to Kailash Hospital for treatment, where the doctor declared the child dead. Other necessary legal action is being taken,” said police in a statement. Officials said that the deceased has been identified as Akshat Chauhan. “The child's family is originally from Bihar. His father Prabhat Singh, 35, is a software engineer and is currently working from home. He had recently got the child admitted to a play school. They also have a daughter,” said an official.
