5-year-old girl dies of swine flu, toll at 10

The girl died on February 13.

A five-year-old girl, who was being treated for swine flu at , became the tenth and the youngest victim of the H1N1 virus in Delhi this year. This is the fourth death to be confirmed in a week.

The girl died on February 13. The Health department confirmed it as a swine flu death after verifying reports from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday.

This is the first time a child had died of the virus this year. On Wednesday, the Delhi government also confirmed the death of a 23-year-old woman from the virus.

She is also the first pregnant woman to succumb to the virus this year.

Officials said 137 of 665 samples tested for swine flu were found to be positive on Thursday. Since the New Year, 2,708 patients have been diagnosed with the virus.
