3 held,Rs 2.6 lakh recovered as police bust gang of robbers

The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch busted the Sonu Kharab gang and arrested its three members,including the gang leader Sonu Kharab,along with another member Mukesh and a juvenile. All accused are residents of Najafgarh and belong to rich families.

The gang members were arrested after a long chase and attentive tracking as the police team intercepted a vehicle of the gang in Dwarka area around 2.50 am on June 28. When the police asked the trio to stop the vehicle,they started firing at the police team and escaped. Later,they were arrested from Vasant Gaon road.

The police recovered four sophisticated pistols,two extra magazines,96 live cartridges and three vehicles from the three. Rs 2.60 lakh was also recovered from their possession,the police said.

According to the police the gang was also involved in a recent robbery case in Paschim Vihar,where they shot and looted a businessman of Rs 25 lakh.

The police are now searching for the remaining members of the gang.
