A 22-year-old man from Manipur was stabbed allegedly by a group of juveniles, who robbed him in South Delhi’s Mehrauli on Tuesday.
Khupsiangen was returning home after offering prayers at a church around 3 am when he was attacked. He was admitted to Saket City hospital. He suffered a deep stab wound on his stomach in the attack.
Police have nabbed four juveniles. They will be questioned by a juvenile welfare officer. Police have also recovered the mobile phone snatched from Khupsiangen, who works for an NGO in Dwarka.
A local security guard rushed to Khupsiangen’s help when he saw him bleeding. The guard told police that the men who attacked Khupsiangen snatched his mobile phone and wallet. Khupsiangen asked the guard to call a friend, who was at the church. He then took him to hospital, police said.
Khupsiangen’s friend, however, did not call the PCR and police were informed by the hospital authorities around 6 am.
Police then took the statement of the guard and registered a case of robbery and attempt to murder at the Mehrauli police station.
His friend told police that, on way to hospital, Khupsiangen told him that he identified one of the accused during the attack.
Saket City hospital, in a statement, said the patient was stable after abdominal surgery.
