Police said the couple was returning from Jonapur to Archana’s parents’ house in Fujawas. Mohit stopped the car near the bushes close to the police picket and strangulated his wife with a handkerchief, and later her saree’s pallu.

After Archana lost consciousness,Mohit took her to AIIMS,where she was declared brought dead.

The postmortem report revealed that the cause of death was strangulation. “We have arrested Mohit and a case has also been lodged. We are investigating the matter,” said a senior police officer of the Sector 56 police station.

Police said the victim was constantly harassed for money by her in-laws,and there was constant tension in the family as a result of this.
