A 15-year-old boy was beaten to death by around five persons, including two caretakers of a farmhouse, after they allegedly caught him red-handed when he was trying to steal something from the farmhouse. Police said the incident was reported from South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area. Two persons have been arrested, while a search is on to nab the remaining three.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath said the two accused have been identified as Baba alias Mohd Sahil (37) and Uma Kant Yadav (34).
“The incident came to light around 7.50 am on Tuesday when some residents found a body in B B block of Krishna Nagar locality in Neb Sarai area. After receiving a PCR call, police rushed to the spot and found that the body was that of a young boy who had been beaten up,” a senior police officer said. The deceased’s mother, a resident of Devli village, also reached the spot and identified the body as that of her son. “She told investigators that someone had called her around 4 am, informing her that they had caught her son red-handed when he barged inside their house in Neb Sarai area. But she got scared and switched off her cellphone,” the officer said.
On the basis of the PCR call made by the residents, a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 of the IPC at Neb Sarai police station.
“After registering the case, police started the investigation. With the help of technical surveillance, police came to know that the accused Baba had called the deceased’s mother. Baba is the caretaker of a house in D block, Neb Sarai. Police later detained him for questioning. The accused then told police that the boy had broken into the house. The second accused, Yadav, had spotted him immediately and informed Baba. They later caught the boy and thrashed him. Some locals also joined them in the act,” the officer said.
Police said the body was sent for an autopsy at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Initial findings revealed that the boy died due to head injuries.
