Cops crack body-in-trunk case,lover’s wife in net

Police had found some materials used in making imitation jewellery items on Raut’s body. During his interrogation,Srivastava claimed innocence but mentioned that his wife Neelam ran a small workshop manufacturing imitation jewellery in his house. “A police team went to his house for a search and discovered some bedsheets and a pillow cover with blood stains on them. The blood group matched that of Raut. When grilled,Neelam confessed to having killed Raut as she blamed her for her husband’s infidelities,” said Choudhary.

According to Neelam,she had called up Raut and asked her to come home on June 11 saying Srivastava was ill. When Raut reached their home in Kurar,Neelam got in to an argument with her and assaulted her. In a fit of rage, Neelam also allegedly bit Raut’s face,resulting in spilling of blood on the bedsheet. Later she strangulated and killed her. Deciding to get rid of her body,Neelam hired a tempo and bundled the corpse into a metal trunk. She had told the driver that she was going to Dadar as she had to leave for her hometown,said police.

“On the way to Dadar,she asked the driver if police would check the luggage on the highway. A suspicious driver when asked about the content of the trunk,she said the trunk had a body. Terrified,the driver refused to go ahead and dropped her near the Hub Mall where she abandoned the trunk and went home,” added Choudhary. Neelam has been charged with murder.
