A member of fan club-turned-social welfare organisation Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam on Thursday lodged a police complaint against the person who allegedly hurled a slipper at actor Vijay while he was returning to his car after paying respects to actor-politician Vijayakanth, who passed away on December 28 last year.
K Appanu, the district head of the South Chennai Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, lodged a complaint at Koyambedu police station saying that the incident had hurt the sentiments of Vijay’s fans and admirers and requested the police to initiate legal proceedings against the person who allegedly indulged in the act.
A copy of the complaint letter has now gone viral on social media.
On December 28, Vijay paid respects to Vijayakanth, popularly known as Captain, at the party office where the mortal remains of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) leader were kept for public homage and expressed his condolences to Vijayakanth’s wife Premalatha and his two sons.
While returning to his car, an unidentified person allegedly threw a slipper at Vijay which narrowly missed him. The incident outraged the actor’s fans who demanded stringent police action.
