People from all walks of life,including children,youngsters,women and senior citizens,participated in the Yoga Camp,organised at The Indian Express office,in Sector 6,Panchkula. Around 650 persons,participated in the camp. The camp began at 5.30 am and continued for two hours,after which a team of doctors conducted bood sugar and blood pressure level checks of a number of participants. The camp was organised by the Indian Express group,in association with the Bhartiya Yog Sansthan,Fenfuro,Viva and My FM 94.3 as the media partner. A team of Yoga experts from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan imparted awareness on at least 15 Yoga positions (Aasnas) to people,who participated in the camp. During the two-hour camp,special emphasis was laid on how to prevent and control increasing blood pressure and blood sugar levels in the human body,by practising Yoga. People were seen eagerly learning and practising Yoga. During the medical camp,the team of doctors from Viva and Fenfuro checked around 185 persons blood pressure and blood sugar levels. A few persons,who were checked during the medical camp,were surprised,when doctors told them that their blood sugar levels were around 200-250 per cent above normal. These people were advised medication. Pamphlets bearing diet charts,symptoms of high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels; preventive steps to avoid high BP and high blood sugar etc. were distributed to the participants. Not only those who participated in the camp,but passersby also came and got themselves checked at the free medical camp,organised at the Express office.
