Wrestling competitions on Aug 30

Playing top-class football,hosts The Lawrence School,Sanawar recorded a facile 4-0 win over YPS Patiala in a match played during 16th All IndiaBhupinder Singh Memorial Soccer Tournament being held at The Lawrence School,Sanawar. Bir Aftab opened the account for Sanawar in the first half while the second half witnessed three goals. These were scored by Adiraj Singh,Jaideep Atwal and Arav Anand respectively. YPS Patiala struggled hard to score but they could not penetrate the Sanawar defense. In the other match,Sherwood College Nainital defeated APS Dagshai 4-0. The tournament is being played on league basis between two pools under the aegis of the All India FootballFederation and the HP State Football Association.

Athletics meet from Aug 26

The Chandigarh Athletics Association will conduct Chandigarh State Senior Athletics Championships (men and women) on August 26 and 27 at Athletics Complex in Sector 7,Chandigarh. During this championship,the Chandigarh men and women teams will be selected for their participation in the 52nd National Open Athletics Championships to be held from September 7 to 11 in Ranchi. Only bonafide athletes (residents/employees/students) of Chandigarh can participate in this championship. The entries should be sent to SK Joshi,UT athletics coach,at Athletics Complex,Sector 7,Chandigarh,before 8:30 am on August 26.

Boxing championship from Aug 29

The Fifth Pandit Mohan Lal Inter-School Chandigarh Sub-Junior and Junior Boxing Championship will be held from August 29 at KK Sharma Boxing Stadium,Sector 32. The tournament is recognised by Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association and a team can take part in ten weight categories namely 36 kg,40 kg,44 kg,46 kg,48 kg,57 kg,60 kg,64 kg,69 kg and 75 kg. Boxers born in the year 1996,1997,1998 and 1999 are eligible to take part in the championship and only bonafide students of any recognised school of Chandigarh can take part in the championship. No entry fee will be charged from the boxers.
