Women empowerment icon Sheila Didi passes away
Well-known left-wing activist,advocate and President of the Punjab Istri Sabha,Sheila Didi passed away early Friday morning following a cardiac arrest.

Well-known left-wing activist,advocate and President of the Punjab Istri Sabha,Sheila Didi passed away early Friday morning following a cardiac arrest. She was 83.
Wife of late Madan Lal Didi,poet and labour leader,she along with her husband devoted her life to improve the lot of the underprivileged. Both were active members of the Communist Party of India. Sheila played a special role in empowering women. She was one of the nominees of the worldwide campaign for 1,000 women for Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.
She is survived by two daughters,Poonam Singh and Shumita Didi,and son Rahul Didi. Her body will be taken to the CPI office in Sector 21 at 9.30 am on November 19. The cremation will be held in Sector 25 at noon.
