Armyman on leave held for attacking woman SHO in Amritsar, hunt on for other accused

A woman Station House Officer (SHO) of the Verka police station was admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar on Friday night after she was attacked while trying to stop a clash near a petrol pump in the Muddal village. The main accused, a soldier in the Indian Army, was arrested while a hunt is on to arrest the others involved in the attack.

The injured SHO has been admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar. The police have apprehended the main culprit, while raids are on to nab the others involved.

Harpreet Singh Mander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, reported that two groups were fighting near the petrol pump in Muddal village. When the police were informed, SHO Amanjot Kaur Sohi reached the spot with a police team.

When she tried to stop the clash, Sohi was attacked with a datar, a sharp weapon. The datar caused serious injury to her ear. The police team accompanying her immediately took her to the Amandeep Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

The police have arrested the main accused, Sukhjeet Singh Fauji. Sukhjeet is a soldier in the Indian Army and had come home on leave. The police have registered an FIR at the Verka police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
