Woman kills daughter,alleges husband tried to rape 7-year old

As the couple did not have a child,Sakshi’s husband Ramesh had adopted the daughter of his brother.

Around two days ago,Ramesh had allegedly attempted to rape the child and the matter was subsequently reported to police by Sakshi.

After the arrest of Ramesh,Sakhsi was scolded by her in-laws for reporting the matter to police and bringing bad name for the family.

On way to the hospital,Sakshi told police that she was being harassed by her in-laws for taking the matter to police.

They were mounting pressure on Sakshi to withdraw the complaint.

She has been booked under section 302 of IPC (murder) and 309 of IPC (attempt to commit suicide).

While Ramesh has been sent to judicial custody,police suspect that Sakshi may be “mentally unsound” and is trying to frame her husband.

“Sakshi first came to police alleging that her husband had raped their adopted daughter. The medical examination did not establish rape. She then said that Ramesh had attempted rape. On her complaint a case was registered,” Mohkampura SHO Amrik Singh said.

Singh said that police suspect that Sakshi “in fact tried to frame her husband”. “She even taught her adopted daughter to level allegations of rape against Ramesh. As allegations could not be proved,she must have thought that the girl would reveal the truth and hence probably decided to kill her,” added Amrik Singh.

Amritsar Commissioner of Police R P Mittal said Sakshi is under treatment. “Investigations are on in the case,” he said,adding that police were looking at the case from “various angles”.
