Woman ‘doctor’ administers injection at PGI: patient critical, police yet to make headway
The family members, including the victim's husband Gurwinder Singh, informed the police about their inter-caste marriage and suspect it could be a reason behind the incident.

THE CONDITION of 24-year-old Harmeet Kaur who was given an injection by an unknown woman posing as doctor in gynae ward of PGI is critical. Police are yet to make any headway despite having a picture of the suspect woman.
The family members, including the victim’s husband Gurwinder Singh, informed the police about their inter-caste marriage and suspect it could be a reason behind the incident. Sources said that Gurwinder Singh claimed before the police that family members of Harmeet Kaur did not accept their marriage. Gurwinder and Harmeet are from the same village. They tied the knot against the wishes of the bride’s family members.
Jatinder Kaur, victim’s sister-in-law, who had clicked the picture of an unknown woman in her cell phone, said, “Cops told us to divulge each and everything about Harmeet Kaur. We informed them about Gurwinder Singh and Harmeet Kaur. They claimed that they were doing their best to nail the woman. We told them that the woman was a stranger to us. We have never seen her in our village and relations. Harmeet Kaur’s baby is stable.”
According to PGI, Harmeet Kaur was admitted to PGI on November 7 after being referred from an outside hospital with severe kidney injury, absent urine output and multi-organ dysfunction, resulting from complications. Due to excessive bleeding and severe infection during delivery on November 4, she had already undergone dialysis before being referred to PGI. Bleeding was controlled at PGI. She was shifted to ICU and dialysis was done. She is undergoing frequent dialysis and is currently on a ventilator. Doctors are keeping a close eye on the patient.
A case of attempt to commit culpable homicide under Section 308 of IPC was registered at Sector 11 police station.
