Virk skips hearing,says can’t leave Maharashtra

Also,Vijay Pal Singh Dimpy,a co-accused in the case,skipped court citing health reasons and alleged threat perception. Dimpy,former president of the Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress,through his lawyer Rajesh Gupta,sought exemption from personal appearance.

He claimed to have undergone cardiac bypass surgery and is presently recuperating at Kasauli,from where it is not medically advisable to travel to Mohali for court appearances. He also cited an alleged threat to his life,which he had reported to the court on the last date of hearing as well.

While issuing notices to the state on Dimpy’s exemption plea,Judge Garg posted the matter for September 22.

Meanwhile,Virk’s son-in-law Parampreet Singh Brar moved a plea refuting allegations made by Dimpy as “a bundle of lies and totally false”.

Dimpy,through his counsel on August 28,had accused Brar and Virk’s other close aides of “threatening to kill him after he refused to sign blank papers outside the court”.
