Former chief minister and PCC chief Virbhadra Singh may contest the Assembly election from Shimla (Rural),a newly carved constituency with some peripheral areas of Shimla and Theog constituencies. Virbhadra’s earlier constituency of Rohru has been reserved for the scheduled caste candidates.

The PCC chief’s wife and former MP Pratibha Singh too is seeking to contest from Kasumpati. However, insiders in the party claim that if the former CM contests the elections, none from his family will be given tickets.

In a meeting of the Pradesh Election Committee, which Virbhadra heads, scheduled on September 24 in Delhi, the party is likely to frame broad parameters for allotment of tickets.
