Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has hailed the High Court judgment rejecting Union Minister Virbhadra Singhs plea for transfer the investigations in a corruption case against him to the CBI,but denied any political vendetta against his Congress predecessor .
It was during his (Virbhadra) chief ministership,Vijai Singh Mankotia,Virbhadra Singhs Cabinet colleague, had released the CD,which had voice of Singh and his wife. Singh, thereafter, had filed an affidavit and had rejected demand for a CBI inquiry. He had denied that the voice on the CD was his. He again filed a defamation case against Mankotia and approached the High Court asking for restraining Shanta Kumar,Prem Kumar Dhumal and Jairam Thakur against during the CD in the elections, said Dhumal.
Reaching to the judgment,Virbhadra Singh said,While dismissing the petition, the High Court has issued some important directions as par as further trial was concerned in the matter. The court has observed that the trial court will not take cognisance in a mechanical manner on the material collected by the investigating agency. The material collected during the investigation would be scrutinised judicially and analysed before taking cognizance. This is a very important direction.
The Union Minister said there are many legal options before him to seek judicial interventions once the investigating agency filed the challans in the trial court. The options,he said include, approaching the trial court,or High Court against and even finally the Supreme Court after consulting the lawyers and legal experts.
He levelled fresh charges of political vendetta against chief minister Dhumal and asserted that he would continue his legal and political battle against misuse of the official machinery by the chief minister against him.
I am not scared of Dhumal or his antics and my fight will continue as even earlier a similar attempts to fabricate the cases did not work, and eventually thrown out by the courts, he said.
Meanwhile, conveying their total solidarity with Virbhadra Singh more than 14 Congress MLAs this evening issued statement alleging a political conspiracy against Virbhadra Singh and warned Dhumal against serious consequences of his illegal designs to fabricate cases against former chief minister. Among the MLAs,who signed the statement are former minister G S Bali,Gangu Ram Musafir,Sujan Singh Pathania and senior MLA Kush Parmar.
The BJP,on the other hand termed the judgment as historic and maintained that Virbhadra Singh should to honour the verdict and face the trial on corruption charges.
