In a shocking turn of events, a violent clash unfolded at the Derby Kabaddi grounds in Alvaston, Derbyshire on Sunday, resulting in three individuals sustaining injuries. The incident, which occurred around 4 pm, saw a man armed with a sword attacking multiple individuals during a kabaddi tourney.

According to The Sun, eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene as one man was first shot and subsequently subjected to a brutal sword assault while lying on the ground. The incident sent shockwaves through the area.
Video footage posted on X depicted chaotic scenes, with crowds fleeing in the wake of what sounded like gunshots.

Mirror reported that was armed police soon reached the site. Preliminary reports suggest that the violence may have been spurred by clashes between two rival gangs.

As the situation unfolded, hundreds of spectators desperately tried to flee the area, leaving their vehicles and providing information to the police. Witnesses reported the arrival of more than 20 police cars in response to the firing.

A spokesperson from the police stated, “We were called to a large-scale disturbance in Elvaston Lane, Alvaston at 15.51 on Sunday 20 August.” Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come
forward, quoting the reference number 739 of 20 August.

Kabaddi, a sport popular across South Asia, particularly within the Punjabi community, turned into the backdrop for this confrontation.

Four days earlier, Derby World had reported that gifted kabaddi players from across the country would take part in the tournament organised by England Kabaddi Federation.

Around 80 players were to take part in the contact sport. Derby was to be represented by the Guru Arjan Dev Gurdwara Kabaddi Club team.
