Vasundhara Thiara emerged as the winner with an overall score of 101 in the Category E in the girls’ section on the final day of the Third CGA Junior Golf Tournament played at SEPTA Golf Course,Chandimandir. Ashmeet Saini claimed the second spot in the same category with a overall score of 119. In the boys’ section in the same category,Harshjeet Sodhi claimed the top spot with an overall score of 75 while the second spot was claimed by Arnav Jain with an overall score of 88. The third spot was claimed by Shubham with an overall score of 93.
In the Category D,Ishani Joshi claimed the top spot. In the boys’ section in the same category,Digraj Gill claimed the top spot while the second spot was claimed by Aadil Bedi with a score of 172. In the Category C,Gurjot Badwal claimed the top spot in the girl’s section while Piyush Sangwan claimed the top spot in the boys’ section. Tavleen Batra claimed the top spot in the category B with an overall score of 165 while the top spot in the boys’ section was claimed by Harsh Gangawar. Yuvraj Sidhu claimed the second spot while the third spot was claimed by Priyanshu Singh.
Easy win for Panjabi University
Chandigarh: Panjabi University scored an emphatic 31-8 win over Karnataka University in the knock-out stage of the All India Inter-University Netball Championship (Women) for the session 2010-11 played at Panjab University campus on Sunday. In another match of the day,Karnataka University ended the challenge of Osmania University with a 18-17 win. It was also tough going for Bangalore University as they scored a 27-23 win over MD University,Rohtak. In another encounter,Annamalai University scored a 22-12 win over Utkal University.
Akshit and Ekta hog limelight
Panchkula: Akshit Mahajan of Panchkula clinched a triple crown by winning mens singles,boys under-19 singles and boys under-19 doubles titles in the 44th Haryana State Senior Open Badminton Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3 in Panchkula on Sunday.
Akshit Mahajan overpowered Ravi Singla,also of Panchkula,in the mens singles final in straight games by 21-15,21-18. In the boys under-19 singles final,Akshit beat Deepak Kharti of Panchkula by 21-18,21-15 and in the boys under-19 doubles final,Akshit and Deepak beat Sonepat pair of Rajat and Ravi 21-14,21-12. Meanwhile,Ekta of Faridabad held the spotlight by claiming four titles. She won the womens singles,womens doubles,girls under-19 singles and doubles.
