The Municipal Corporation (MC) will be setting up a marriage palace at Manimajra. The site that had earlier been finalised was found to be near the site for a proposed hospital. An alternative site has been identified and will be inspected.
A discussion on the matter was held at the Coordination Committee meeting of the UT Administration and the Municipal Corporation (MC) held today.
The proposal for a marriage palace was mooted many months ago. However,no progress had been made.
It was pointed out that while the marriage palace was proposed for Pocket Number 8 in Manimajra,a hospital was also proposed for that area. It was felt that since it is vital for the residents of Manimajra to have a hospital, the marriage palace could be shifted.
An alternate site would be looked at. Mayor Anu Chatrath along with the chief architect and the chief engineer would be visiting the site.
The proposal for setting up a marriage palace had been mooted as it was felt that there was no such facility available for residents of the city and they have to depend on the periphery in case such functions have to be held. Once the site is finalised, construction plans for the marriage palace would be made.
Chatrath also discussed plans for community centres and Sehaj Safai Kendras that have been pending with the Architecture Department. Councillors have repeatedly raised the issue of delay in starting the construction of the community centres and SSKs in their wards.
