Continuing with its effort of making the government schools as smart schools,the UT Administration is all set to inaugurate Government High School (GHS),Sector 50 as a smart school in the first week of April.
Government High School,Sector 53 was the first smart school of the city which was inaugurated by Advisor to UT Administration K K Sharma in April 2012. GHS-50 will be the second smart school to be inaugurated this year.
Moreover,the department is also working to make five more schools as smart schools in the upcoming academic session 2013-14.
Out of these five schools,three schools including Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS),Sector 16,GMSSS in Sector 35 and government school of Sector 54 will be developed on the same lines as Sector 53 and 50 are developed.
According to the official information,in the second phase,government schools located in Manimajra and Sector 28 will made as smart schools. Smart schools means using computer technology for teaching and learning and the schools have modern infrastructure.
Director Public Instructions (DPI) (Schools),Upkar Singh said,We are doing the inauguration of the Sector 50 school as smart school in April and the department is all set to make five more government schools as smart schools.
Over Rs 86 lakhs will be spent on these schools for their upgradation as smart schools. With the completion of work,2013 will have seven smart schools in the city.
