The unsuccessful Group B and C applicants in the recently held draw of lots by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) for a scheme for UT employees held a protest at the gate of housing board. The employees protested against the policies of the housing board pertaining to the scheme.

A meeting of the members of the association was held today and a representation given to the office of CHB Chairman Mohanjit Singh. The employees rued that a large number of deputationists have been successful in the draw while those who are employees of the UT have been unsuccessful.

“There should have been a policy to ensure that employees who have been serving in the city be given preference. We gave a representation to the office of the CHB chairman and hope that our demands will be looked into,” said one of the members of the association.

The employees further said that while all the slum dwellers in the city are being given one-room flats that are being constructed by CHB,there is no such policy yet for the employees. Meanwhile, the CHB chairman said that he has seen the representation given by the employees and it would be examined. The group B and C employees will hold another meeting at Rose Garden on Tuesday.
