A Delhi-based vendor has deposited the performance security to the tune of Rs 4 crore with the Administration for High Security Registration Number Plates ( HSRP) The much awaited launch of the High Security Registration Number Plates (HSRP) has moved one step closer to reality and will soon be done,claim officials of the UT Administration. Officials confirmed that last week,the Delhi-based vendor had deposited the performance security to the tune of Rs 4 crore with the Administration as per the terms and conditions mentioned in the tender document. Officials said all formalities had been cleared and now the vendor would be called to sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the Administration. At present,the file is with the UT Transport Department to complete the formalities. Parshuram V Kavle of Registering and Licensing Authority said,From our side,all documentation and file work has been done. The vendor has also deposited the performance security amount. The file is now with the transport department. Transport Joint Secretary M M Sabharwal said,We are verifying all the documents submitted by the vendor and by Monday,the file will be mooted to the competent authority for approval,so that we can start the process of installing HSRP at the earliest. The tender process had finished in February and the lowest bidder was allotted the tender over two-and-a-half months ago. The delay in implementing the HSRP in the city had even sparked rumours that the vendor was not keen to come here and offer such low rates for each number plate and was contemplating withdrawing his bid. However,all the rumours were put to rest last week,when the vendor deposited the performance security amount. If the vendor now decides to take a step back,his performance security amount of Rs 4 crore will be forfeited, added Kavle. From being one of the first cities in the country to have taken a lead in initiating HSRP,the city lags behind its neighbouring Punjab,Haryana and Delhi,which have already started the installation of HSRP,and have even made it mandatory for all new vehicles to have HSRPs. While the rates of the HSRPs for four wheelers and two wheelers are yet to be finalised,sources in the UT administration said that the rates offered in the city would be the lowest as compared to the neighbouring states. So far,Haryana has been offering the lowest rates.
