The Lok Bhalai Party (LBP) have joined hands with the families of Indian nationals facing death sentence in the UAE to ensure their safe return. LBP chief Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and the families will meet top Islamic bodies of India and ask them to intervene in the matter.
Ramoowalia had written to the Prime Minister to get the matter examined by the law ministry or the Attorney General and to channelise diplomatic contacts to take up the matter with the UAE.
These Indians are not facing death sentence on account of any act of treason or any attempt of subversion to the UAE government or any blasphemy, Rammowali had written to the PM.
In a press conference here on Thursday,Ramoowalia said the Union government had ensured release of 400 Indians facing death sentence in Libya in 1996.
We will also meet Islamic organisations including Darul-Uloom,Tanzime Wahbiyat Hind and All India Sunni Hunfi, said Ramoowalia,adding they will also contact the UN Human Rights Commission through the Government of India. Three LBP leaders Avtar Singh Mullanpuri,Amrik Singh Verpal and Sukhwinder Singh Brar will go to the UAE at the earliest to look into the matter,while party general secretary Ramandeep Singh Bharowal along with Ramoowalia will camp in Delhi to meet the Islamic bodies,engage senior Supreme Court lawyers and to meet the PM. He demanded that government of India should also examined the working of the Indian authorities in UAE over this matter. He also informed to hold request meetings at district head quarters from April 7.
Ramoowalia also appealed to all gurdwara committees of the world to adopt these 17 families till their cases are decided.
