Two city golfers among award winners

The two golfers were Abhijit Singh Chadha and Ajeestesh Sandhu.

Two Chandigarh golfers were among the four recipients of ‘First Time Winners’ award during the Professional Golf Tour of India Annual Rolex Awards presented at the Jaypee Greens Course in Greater Noida on Wednesday. The two golfers were Abhijit Singh Chadha and Ajeestesh Sandhu. The other two winners were Rashid Khan and Om Prakash Chouhan. These four professionals registered their maiden victories on the PGTI during the 2012 season.

Abhijit Singh Chadha received the Emerging Player of the Year Award. He won this award on the basis of accumulating the highest earnings among all those professionals who made their debut as full card holders on the PGTI in the 2012 season.

Chadha,who hails from Chandigarh,took home over Rs. 18 lakh in prize money last year.

Delhi-based Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan won the 2012 PGTI Feeder Tour Order of Merit with earnings of Rs. 123,325 for the season.

Meanwhile,Shamim Khan was named Player of the Year during the ceremony. The Delhi golfer had topped the Professional Golf Tour of India’s Rankings for 2012 with total earnings of Rs.5,747,713. for the season.
