Two arrested on charges of snatching, vehicle thefts

Police said that Pankaj had been involved in several cases of snatching and theft in Delhi and Sonipat.

The Chandigarh Police Crime Branch has arrested two people allegedly involved in various snatching and vehicle theft cases.

They were identified as Pankaj (25), a resident of Sonipat who lived in Bapu Dham colony, and a juvenile, also from Bapu Dham colony.

Crime Branch officials said that Pankaj had been arrested from Najagarh in New Delhi on Monday on a tip-off. They recovered seven gold chains and a motorcycle from his possession.

In a search of his jhuggi in Bhapu Dham colony, two country-made pistols and nine live cartridges were found. During questioning, Pankaj told the police that he had one gold chain with an accomplice residing in Bhapu Dham Colony at present.

The police raided the house on Friday morning, recovered the gold chain and arrested a juvenile.

Police said that Pankaj had been involved in several cases of snatching and theft in Delhi and Sonipat.

With his arrest, the police claimed to have solved seven cases of snatching and a case of vehicle theft registered against him at the police stations in sectors 17, 26, 31, 36 in the city.

Pankaj has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days while the juvenile has been sent to the juvenile home in Sector 25.
