Truck driver calls PCR after ‘cop’ allegedly takes Rs 500 bribe

A day after a constable was arrested by the CBI sleuths while accepting a bribe,a traffic cop allegedly took Rs 500 from a truck driver near Manimajra railway crossing on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning,when Vicky,a resident of Nalagarh,had come with his truck to Manimajra,where he was getting it loaded with goods.

According to police,Vicky called up the Police Control Room(PCR) alleging that a policeman in a white uniform had allegedly taken money from him.

Inspector Rajesh Shukla,Station House Officer (SHO),Manimajra Police station said,“We reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. All the cops posted in the nearby areas were shown to the victim,but he was unable to identify anyone”. The police have not registered a case as Vicky did not give a written complaint.

Last month,a constable was arrested while his accomplice ASI Deshraj managed to flee after the CBI laid a trap to nab them. They were demanding a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a proclaimed offender (PO) for not arresting him.

Another constable sent to judicial custody

Chandigarh police constable Mange Ram,who was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while accepting a bribe on Tuesday,was sent to judicial custody by the Special CBI court on Wednesday. Mange Ram had demanded Rs 20,000 from a businessman,who runs a shop in Sector 22,for sending a favourable report. He alleged that on March 7,the accused had visited his shop and told him that a Rohini Court had issued arrest warrant against him and his family members. The amount was later settled at Rs 12,000.

Businessman hangs self due to debt

A 60-year-old resident of Manimjara committed suicide by hanging himself in his shop on Wednesday morning.

The deceased,identified as Surjeet,was reported to be under debt due to which he took the step.

According to police,the deceased ran a shoe business from a rented shop in Manimajra and had left for his shop at around 8 am on Wednesday.

The incident came to light when Kulwant,the decease’s son,reached the shop at 11 am and found him hanging inside the shop.

No suicide note has been recovered from the spot.
