Train the police instead of having special anti-terror agencies: Gill

Former Punjab Director General of Police K P S Gill today said that if the country has to tackle terrorism,political interference in policing has to be stopped.

Former Punjab Director General of Police K P S Gill today said that if the country has to tackle terrorism,political interference in policing has to be stopped. He was speaking at a seminar on the topic ‘Terrorism: a challenge to the Nation’,organised by the Punjab Young Peace Council here.

He said there is lack of political will to fight terrorism as “politicians are more worried about their votes than the security of the country”.

Jalandhar Zonal IG Sanjiv Kalra and Kapurthala SSP Rakesh Aggarwal were also present on the occasion.

On the recent announcement of starting special training centres to train police personnel for counter-terror operations,he said nothing has happened till date.

“We should provide the latest training and equipment to our police,instead of constituting special agencies,” he said.
