The Tibetan Parliament formed three groups in the House on Thursday to discuss the issue of Tibetan leader Dalai Lamas retirement from the position of political head of the state. Daylong discussions were held among the three groups on working out the modalities and future course of action,if Dalai Lama refuses to withdraw his decision. While the seven Cabinet ministers,including Kalon Tripa (Prime Minister) Prof Samdhong Rinpoche,have already accepted Dalai Lamas decision of retirement,the elected representatives of Tibetans have shown disagreement with the decision and are likely to request the Dalai Lama to reconsider his decision. Talking to The Indian Express,MP Karma Yeshi said: The deliberations are on. We are still in the process of discussing and working out the modalities on what should be our next step in such a situation. Various aspects need to be analysed before reaching any conclusion. The discussions are expected to continue on Friday. A standing committee has also been constituted to table a resolution in the House on Friday. The three groups will hold discussions again on the resolution. His Holiness office has already got information about the daily proceedings of the House through his secretaries. We hope he reconsiders his decision. Otherwise,we will have to think of an alternative, says Dawa Tsering,another MP. The Tibetan Parliament is likely to present a memorandum to the Dalai Lama on March 19,after the House concludes its deliberations on the issue of his retirement and their further course of action.
