Three police officers injured in accidents

Two police officers of the Cheeta Squad were injured after a head-on collision with a car at 3 am on Thursday.

Two police officers of the Cheeta Squad were injured after a head-on collision with a car at 3 am on Thursday.

The accident took place at the dividing road of Sector 21 and Sector 22.

Of the two police officials injured in the collision,Harish and Parvinder,the latter’s head sustained an injury. Parvinder was then taken immediately to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH),Sector 16 by a nearby PCR vehicle.

Police officials said that the driver of the car,Baldev Raj was going to Delhi after he dropped off some clients at Sector 28.

Baldev was drunk when the police examined him after the accident. The police arrested the accused,Baldev,but he was later released on bail.

Baldev,a resident of Haryana,was driving an Innova Car bearing Delhi registration number.

The police officials allege that he (Baldev Raj) was driving on the wrong side of the road when the accident took place.

Baldev has been booked on charges of rash driving in a public place and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.

In another case of hit-and-run,Ashok Kumar,a head constable of Chandigarh Police was injured by a rushing Maruti Car.

The accident took place at a drunken driving naka at the dividing road of Sector 33 and 34. Ashok was admitted in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH),Sector 32.

However the police officials did not register a case.
