A television series that was initially aired in America and other parts of the world last year,The Kennedys now finds its way to an Indian channel. Beginning on the eve of the 1960 election that ultimately made John F Kennedy the President,the show goes back and forth in time,from the beginning of World War II a time when Joseph P Kennedy Sr was still a presidential hopeful to John F Kennedys tenure. The show explores how Joseph P Kennedy Sr attempted to manipulate the lives of his sons and the various scandals and tangled relationships the family dealt with.

Whos in it?Two very well-known names in the industry,Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes,play John F Kennedy and his wife,Jacqueline Kennedy. British actor Tom Wilkinson best known for his roles in Michael Clayton,Batman Begins and Shakespeare in Love portrays the father,Joseph P Kennedy Sr,and Barry Pepper portrays Robert F Kennedy,on whom the burden of managing the older two brothers election campaign falls. Later episodes also introduce the characters of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe,both of whom,the show suggests,were closely involved with the family in different ways.

Whats hot? Apart from the fact that the show chronicles the lives of one of the most famous political families of America,it delves into little-known aspects of their lives within their homes that is what makes it interesting.

Whats not? The doubt surrounding the accuracy,or lack thereof,of the facts portrayed in the show are perhaps its greatest negative aspect. Some reviews also suggested that the show did not delve deep enough into the psyches of the characters.

Should you be watching it? For viewers with an interest in American history the Kennedy family in particular the show is worth a watch. Keep in mind,however,that in all likelihood,not everything you see actually happened.
