The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at PHD House,Thursday organised a seminar on Youth and Inclusive Growth,highlighting the importance of youth in India. The speakers stressed on ensuring inclusive growth with the help of young population.
Indicating that 65 per cent of the population,which is youth,is an asset for the nation,Vineet Joshi,assistant media advisor to Punjab and Chief Parliamentary Secretary,said that India is in a better position as compared to the USA,Canada,Japan,China and many other nations,which have unemployable older population.
Stressing on the need for inclusive growth for national development,Joshi said,The real challenge lies in creating not only more job opportunities,but also encouraging conducive laws which would facilitate entrepreneurship. It is important to generate employment not only for yourself but for others also.
Speaking on occasion ,Dalip Sharma,regional director,PHD Chamber said,The young India is the best resource and is in abundance. The best in the youths needs to be tapped.
Anshu Kataria,convener,education committee,PHD Chamber said that a bold programme of inclusive growth lead by the youth is required,which inherently would be sustainable. We need to generate skilled workforce in the trades of plumbing,carpentry,electricians,welding among others,which is in demand all over the world.
Puneet Thind,a young farmer,said that the youth should be encouraged to participate in the policy matters and youth advisory councils can be set up. The government should give the entrepreneurs a boost with funds,facility,and strategic alliances.
Retired IRS officer Sudha Sharma, S K Chadha of UBS,Punjab University,A P Jain of Aryans Group of Colleges and Sandeep Singh Kaura,Joint Managing Director,Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions,among others,spoke at the seminar.
