Take specialsed healthcare to the poor,says Rodrigues

UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues (Retd) asked the Health department on Wednesday to develop an IT-based healthcare network,to be connected with PGIMER and other super-specialty hospitals in the region,to ensure specialised treatment to the needy patients.

Rodrigues strongly advocated for the need to increase the outreach of quality healthcare system to every household in rural areas.

Accompanied by Jean Rodrigues,the Administrator inaugurated a health check-up camp and social welfare-oriented awareness camp at Mauli Jagran. The camp was organised by various departments of the Administration in collaboration with NGOs like Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society and Brig. Kataria Healthcare Foundation.

He also expressed anguish over the alarming rise in the number of AIDS cases and maternal mortality rate,despite various programmes and action plans.

Rodrigues asked the heads of these programmes to conduct a colony-wise and village-wise survey and take effective measures.

Later,the Administrator laid the foundation of Block-B at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology,Sector 26,being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.6.87 crore.
