Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off five vehicles carrying relief material for the disaster-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh from his official residence, Oak Over. Provided by the International Lions Club, the relief consignment comprises 161 kits of dry rations, utensils, blankets, tarpaulins and other essential items for distribution among affected families through Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) concerned. The chief minister expressed his gratitude to the club and appreciated the efforts of various organisations and individuals who came forward to support the affected families. “The state suffered extensive losses during this monsoon season, resulting in not only the loss of precious lives but also significant damage to public and private property. The government is providing all possible help with its limited resources and stands firmly with the affected people,” he said. Sukhu said, “Like 2023, the state government announced a special relief package for the disaster-affected families in 2025. Under this, the compensation amount for fully damaged houses has been increased from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.”
