Statement of three new witnesses were recorded by the court of District and Sessions Judge S K Aggarwal in the murder case of inspector Sucha Singh on Monday. Four witnesses who had earlier recorded their statements,were cross-examined by the court on Monday. Inspector Sultan Singh,SHO PS Rai,recorded his disclosure and he approved the FIR registered against dismissed UT constable Basant at Siswal police station. Basant has been arrested for the murder of the inspector while his accomplice and girlfriend Sarita attacked home guards Jatinder Singh. Inspector Sultan Singh also told the court that he had earlier arrested Sarita. Statement of Jagjeet,PRO of SP Sonepat who issued pamphlets announcing reward of Rs 1 lakh on Basant was also recorded by the court. Anil Kumar,who was posted in court premises in Sector 17,when the incident took place was cross examined by the defence and he identified Sarita. Jatinder Singh,driver of the slain cop was also cross examined. Another witness to be cross examined was Varinder Singh,who was deputed at the scene of crime after the incidence took place to ensure that evidences are not tampered. Fast-tracking the trial of murder,the court had earlier recorded the statement of assistant sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar who was on duty at Police Control Room and Dr Prattek who took the blood sample of the accused. The accused have been charged under Section 333,353,397 and 34 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
