A special screening of the Pakistani film,Khuda Kay Liye, was organised by the History Association and NSS unit of DAV College today. This was followed by a signature campaign in which around 500 students signed up for the Indo-Pak friendship and against terrorism. Professor Jyotiramaya Khatri from the History Association said the movie showcases the difficult situations in which Pakistanis,in particular, and Muslims,in general, have been caught up since 9 There is a certain kind of war going on between the fundamentalists and the liberal Muslims. This situation is creating a rift not only between the western world and the Muslims but also within the community, said Khatri. He added,The educated and modern Muslims are in a difficult situation. On the one hand, they are criticised and harassed by fundamentalists while on the other, the western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism owing to their so-called Muslim names. This paradox is resulting in great shuddering for forward looking Muslims, he observed. Professor AL Singla and Dr SK Rattan from the NSS unit of the college said the objective of the programme was to assert that people of both the countries want to resolve the crisis through dialogue, cooperation and appropriate action by the governments.
