A clash was witnessed at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College,Sector 26,between two rival student organisations.

A clash was witnessed at Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) College,Sector 26,between two rival student organisations. While the principal denied any clash on the college campus,a diary report was lodged by the police.

At around 1 pm,a group of 15 students, including some outsiders who were members and supporters of KCSU (the party that won the college student council elections this year) entered the college campus. They picked up an argument with two supporters of the CSU party in the college canteen.

The argument led to a clash in which Jatinder Singh and Amandeep Singh, supporters of CSU and students of BA third year, were allegedly attacked with a brick and chairs. While one of them injured his leg,the other was hit on the shoulder.

“The group of students, including outsiders, abused us and hit us with chairs in the canteen. One of them picked up a brick and hit me on my shoulder,” said Amandeep Singh.

The students alleged that during the clash,Principal H S Sohi was present at the spot but did not take any action against.

“The principal did not take any action in a similar incident in which a couple of students were injured recently,” he added.

Inaction of the college authorities provoked the students to protest and they declared their agenda of holding going on a strike. Later, however, the students called off the plan after assurance from the college authorities of action to be taken against the accused.
