The next couple of days will see the city's event calendar dotted with specials With the weather playing perfect host,invites for special dos have begun to pour in. While the weekend will see Taj Chandigarh bring in its first ever 'Taj Khazana' trunk show,the next nine days will also see the state of Rajasthan camp in the city with the best of its fare. Here's what to expect and where: ROYAL SPLENDOUR: For the last three years,city's Rajasthan Parishad has been organising the annual 'Rajasthani Art and Craft Festival'. Into its fourth year,the festival has gone plumper with an all-new venue to boot. "So far we have been organising the festival at the Rajasthan Bhawan in Sector 33 but the response has been so overwhelming that we decided to increase the size of not just the venue but number of participants as well," informs the chairman of the Rajasthani Art and Craft Festival,Rajnish Jain. The festival will now roll out from February 18 to 26 at Kalagram. Further,the Rajasthan Parishad has joined hands with the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC),Patiala and Udhyam Protsahan Sansthan,Jaipur for organising the festival this year. Apart from a variety of crafts on display,artistes from NZCC would perform each evening. "There would be three Sufi nights as well," mentioned Jain listing the total number of stalls at 140 that will offer quintessential Rajasthani arts and crafts. Hosted in association with the Rajasthan government,the festival would also bring in a taste of the state with its food stalls. "The menu will be changed every day offering special Rajasthani fare," listed out Jain mentioning specials like 'Mirchi Vada','Jodhpuri Mava Kachori','Dal Pakoda' and more. Entry to the festival is ticketed at Rs 5. TRUNK SHOW: It's a first for Taj Chandigarh and therefore expectations are high. Come February 20 and the hotel will host 'Taj Khazana',a two-day trunk show. Showcasing arts and crafts culled from all across the country,Taj Khazana in whole is a paean to all things tasteful. From miniature paintings to contemporary art,designer garments to jewellery,handbags and more. The trunk show will also put forth exclusive weaves,jewellery and contemporary paintings from Bengal. Artists Dhiren Sasmal and Atish Mukherjee's works will also feature in the show.
