St Kabir maintain goal-feast

With as many as 13 goals in their first-two matches,hosts St Kabir showed that they were among the favourites to win this year's edition of the St Kabir Football Trophy for Under-13 being played at the St Kabir Public School ground in Sector 26 on Saturday.

After pumping in seven goals on the first day,they followed that with another goal-spree with an easy 6-0 win over Swami Ram Tirath Public School in a Pool A outing. Rahul netted a brace,while last match’s hero Udey added another goal to his tally.

It was Rahul who broke the deadlock for winners in the third minute. Four minutes later,Yuvraj came up with a superb goal to double the lead. Rahul’s second goal of the match in the 15th minute ensured that the hosts went into the half-time with a 3-0 lead. As the match resumed after the break,Arnav (24th),Tipu (27th) and Udey (47th) scored a goal each to ensure the winners a comfortable win.

Meanwhile,in a Pool B fixture,St John’s High School,Sector 26,also continued their goal-feast with another stunning display in which they thrashed Ajit Karam Singh International Public School by six goals without reply.

For Ashiana School,it was their first win in two matches when they managed a narrow 1-0 win over St Peter’s School,Sector 37. The all-important goal was scored by Madhav in the 30th minute. In another low scoring match,Vivek High School got the better of Mount Carmel of Sector 47 by a solitary goal. Aayush snatched the match winner for Vivek in the 15th minute in a Pool A match. For Vivek School,it was their second successive win,while Mount Carmel suffered their second defeat in two outings.

Despite Abishek wasting two penalties,New Public School,Sector 18,defeated St Xavier’s School of Panchkula 3-0 in a Pool C programme. NPS-18 had to wait for 10 minutes to open their account through Gurpreet who converted a measured pass from Abhishek from the left flank in the 10th minute.

Gurpreet scored his team’s second goal with a straight grounder from 10 yards and Shivam capitalised on a pass from the right flank to score in the 30th minute.
