Based on the complaint, a case under sections 323 (assault), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered on Sunday. (Express File Photo) Sohana police on Sunday booked eleven persons for allegedly attacking a girl’s family over a dispute on fetching water in Mohali’s Jagatpura area. None of the accused have been arrested so far.
The complainant in the case, the girl’s father, Kuna, has stated to the police that his minor daughter had gone to fetch water from a tap which is common and used by all the residents of Jagatpura locality. The incident took place on August 31.
The complainant alleged that when his daughter had gone to fetch water from the tap, a woman confronted and indulged in an argument with her.
“My daughter told me that a woman had heckled her. When my daughter objected, the woman in question called her son, Ankit, to the spot,” the complainant alleged.
Kuna further states in his complaint that although the matter was resolved at that moment, later, however, Ankit, came to his home along with a bunch of people and vandalised his house. The men also beat up the girl’s father and her two brothers.
