The slow pace of widening and carpeting of roads in the city have left residents perturbed. While at places work was started months ago it has not been completed causing inconvenience to the residents. In Sector 8,widening and carpeting of the roads in front of houses began before the monsoons. The roads were dug up. In fact the pits dug were so deep that residents had problem getting their vehicles out of the houses. A harassed resident complains,The pace of work is very slow, which is causing inconvenience to all. Entering your own house has become difficult. Authorities should take up work only when they are sure they can complete within a fixed time frame. Another major problem, residents say,is initiating work in the entire sector simultaneously. When digging starts, all the roads in the sector are dug up. The widening and carpeting, however, take more time, said another resident. In Sector 35,carpeting of the internal roads has been going on for a few months. Area councillor Harjinder Kaur has taken up the issue with officials and was told that work would be completed after December.
