Cancelling the recent posting of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Abhishek Trivedi, a 1996 batch IPS officer, as Secretary (Social Justice & Empowerment), the state government has appointed 1990 batch IPS officer Shyam Bhagat Negi as Additional Chief Secretary (Social Justice & Empowerment). The order was issued on Wednesday. ADGP Abhishek Trivedi, who looks after law & order wing of the state police, was appointed the Secretary (Social Justice & Empowerment) on September 30. On the same day, IFS officer Sushil Kumar Singla was appointed the Secretary (Environment, Science Technology & Climate Change). The order states, "On the recommendations of the Civil Services Board, the Governor, Himachal Pradesh, is pleased to order the posting of Shyam Bhagat Negi, IPS (HP:1990) … with immediate effect, in the public interest.” It further directed that the previous posting of Abhishek Trivedi “stands cancelled with immediate effect”. The department of Social Justice & Empowerment is responsible for implementing welfare and empowerment schemes across the state. Negi, who is among the front-runners for the post of Director General of Police (DGP) Himachal Police, was on central deputation and repatriated to his parent cadre Himachal Pradesh Police in July this year. The additional charge of Himachal DGP is currently with 1993 batch IPS Ashok Tewari.
