The state BJP and the government have been put to embarrassment over the recent flip-flop over nomination of chairperson for the Himachal Pradesh Social Welfare Board. The notification issued by the government on October 6,nominating Kullu BJP leader Dhaneshwari Thakur, now stands withdrawn and a fresh notification nominating another woman leader from Shimla,Beena Thakur, for the same post will be issued. This has angered Dhaneshwari, zila parishad member from Kullu who earlier held the post of boards director in 1990. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment informed her about the withdrawal of notification over telephone. Dhaneshwari also met Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to express her resentment. The party is now finding it difficult to explain the situation though the government has termed it as an administrative error, saying Dhaneshwaris name was printed by mistake on the notification. I had never asked for the post and was happy to have been nominated. The sudden withdrawal of my nomination has damaged my image in the public and the government department says it was due to an error in printing. I have now decided that I am not going to accept any post by nomination, but will contest elections and prove my real worth, said Dhaneshwari, daughter of former BJP minister Kunj Lal Thakur. Beena Thakur, former state head of the BJP Mahila Morcha, meanwhile, said: I am not aware what went wrong, but I always knew my name was on the top when the case went for approval to the Centre. I have now been informed that the notification of my nomination as chairperson is being issued. Additional Chief Secretary,Social Justice and Empowerment,Sarojini Ganju Thakur was not available for comments.
