No community can move forward without a good education. So the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC) had fixed a target to provide better education facilities in its educational institutes in collaboration with world renowned universities,said SGPC president Jathedar Avtar Singh while speaking at a function organized at the Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh sahib,in connection with attaining the autonomous college status by the UGC. He said that the establishment of Directorate of Education was a big achievement in the SGPC which was continuously making efforts to tie up with foreign universities besides streamlining the working of SGPC-run colleges. Talking about the new grades given to the non-teaching staff of the SGPC colleges,the SGPC president said that it was very much necessary to ease the staff financially to develop good institutions. Speaking at the function Director,Education of the SGPC Gurmohan Singh Walia said that the autonomous status given to the College was a challenge to the staff to yield wonderful academic results. He said that the need of the hour was to change the attitude in a positive way. He was that it was the vision of the SGPC president Jathedar Avtar Singh that the educational institutions of the SGPC should be world standard towards which we were moving now. Jatinder Singh Sidhu,Principal of the college,said autonomy had enabled the college to tailor courses according to the need of industry which would provide the students better jobs.
