An aromatic wood chest,Egyptian chairs and a lion chair are among some of the artefacts- more than a century old – on display at an exhibition in Sector 33.

Among the oldest pieces of furniture is a chair with the portrait of Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar and belongs to the last days of the Mughal Empire. A wood chest bearing the British Empire insignia is also part of the collection. When opened, the aroma of camphor emanates from the chest.

The exhibits are part of a collection of Harjyot Gill who has acquired them from auctions held at various places. Gill says,“I belong to a family which had a close relationship and connection with the descendants of aristocratic and influential families of Punjab of the olden days like Maharaja Ranjit Singh,Sham Singh Attariwala among others. I have been to various cities across the country including Lucknow,Ahmedabad,Mumbai and capitals of some princely states to collect the artefacts.”
