A demonstration was held in front of the head office of State Bank of India in Sector 17. This was in wake of the call given by the All India State Bank Officers’ Federation and All India State Bank of India Staff Federation to demand fulfillment of various demands.

Staff members from various branches in the city gathered near the head office and expressed anguish at the decision of the bank management to implement the new pension scheme. The associations are demanding payment of undistributed portion of 17.5 per cent wage cost to employees and officers as pay. Payment of additional pay and allowance to employees and officers equivalent to the cost incurred by the industry towards second option on pension. Another demand is for improvements in superannuation benefits.

The federations have given a call for strike on November 25 and 26.
