(Image source: www.satyapaljain.com) Satya Pal Jain, former MP and senior advocate has been re-appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in Punjab and Haryana High Court by the President of India for a fourth term up to June 30, 2026.
The post of Additional Solicitor General of India in Chandigarh was created for the first time by the Union Cabinet in December 2014 and Jain was appointed as the first Additional Solicitor General of India at Chandigarh in April 2015.
As the Additional Solicitor General of India, he is the litigation in charge for all the cases of the Central Government in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A Government of India panel of about 130 lawyers would work under him.
Jain has been the All India Incharge of the Legal Cell of the BJP for about 10 years. A noted constitutional lawyer, Jain has represented the party in various important politico-legal battles like the Liberhan Commission, Karnataka Defection case, HJC Defection case etc. He has represented Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, L.K. Advani, Late Sushma Swaraj, Shanta Kumar, Prem Kumar Dhumal, in various courts in India.
Jain was elected to Lok Sabha from Chandigarh in 1996 and 1998. He also won elections to Panjab University Senate from the Graduates Constituency in 1976, 1980, 1984 and 1988.
Jain has been associated with the RSS and the ABVP from his college days.
