SAD fails to quell rebellion against Teenu

The Shiromani Akali Dal’s attempts to quell rebellion against constituency in-charge and ticket contender for Adampur seat Pawan Teenu failed again on Monday as local leaders refused to budge from their position.

The Shiromani Akali Dal’s attempts to quell rebellion against constituency in-charge and ticket contender for Adampur seat Pawan Teenu failed again on Monday as local leaders refused to budge from their position.

Party patriarch and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,on the initiative of Markfed Chairman Jarnail Singh Wahid,called a meeting of the local party leaders in Phagwara,who are opposing Teenu,but failed to make any headway.

SAD rural district president and Cabinet Minister Ajit SIngh Kohar was also present at the meeting.

“Leaders didn’t accept this plea of the CM and told him that they will not accept Teenu. They requested him to give ticket to one of the five contenders that includes Jarnail Singh Gardiwala (Youth Akali Dal leader),Professor H Bolina,Dr Hardiner Singh Jakhu,Darshan Lal Jethumajara and Gian Chand.

Among those who met Badal were Adampur Market Committee Chairman Gurdial Singh Kalra,husband of SGPC member Davinder Kaur Kalra and Adampur Municipal Committee President Darshan Singh Karval.

These leaders also requested Badal that any candidate,who does not belong to Jalandhar district,should not be given ticket for Adampur seat. The name of Rinku Atwal,son of former deputy speaker of Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal,was also being considered for this constituency but Rinku does not belong to Jalandhar district.

Earlier also,Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and party president Sukhbir Badal had called local leaders,who had organised a rally against Teenu,from Adampur in Ludhiana to sort out the matter but failed to make break the impasse.
