SAD asks Punjabis to defeat Delhi-led conspiracy to weaken the Panth
They also spoke on how the new “robber barons” of Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal had tried to take over the fertile land of the state by passing an order to acquire 65,000 acres of land.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has appealed to Punjabis to defeat the conspiracies hatched in Delhi to weaken the SAD and condemned Giani Harpreet Singh for becoming the face of this conspiracy with an aim to divide the Panth and weaken its religious institutions.
Presiding over the political conference held at Isru village to commemorate the martyrdom of Shaheed Karnail Singh Isru, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami asked Punjabis to start a public movement on social media to seek the release of Bandi Singhs following an observation by the Supreme Court that keeping anyone in jail after the completion of his jail term of 20 years was a violation of the person’s human rights. He observed that the Bandi Singhs were incarcerated for periods up to 28 years and appealed to Punjabis to make individual pleas to seek their release on social media.
Senior leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal appealed to the SAD cadre to beware of the conspiracy to weaken the SAD by using “duplicates” to deceive the party rank and file. He said a section of leaders led by Giani Harpreet Singh were trying to claim that they were the real SAD. “These persons have opened their own shop but want to hark back to the legacy of the SAD to deceive the people. These duplicates should be rejected immediately,” he added.
Senior leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the “Vakhra Chulha” established by Giani Harpreet had exposed the latter’s real intentions. “The very fact that he has formed a new establishment which goes back to his own ‘hukamnama’ of December 2 forbidding the same.” He said after becoming a tool of the Delhi Darbar, Giani Harpreet was now threatening to take over the SGPC as well as the SAD head office and its symbol. “I want to tell Giani Harpreet that the Panth has never succumbed to threats earlier and never will.”
He also castigated Giani Harpreet for betraying the SGPC which had not only schooled him but also bestowed on him the highest honour of Sri Akal Takht Jathedar.
Youth Akali Dal president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher spoke on how Giani Harpreet had let greed and opportunism get the better of him and was not trying to divide the Panth by becoming an agent of central agencies. He also condemned Giani Harpreet for trying to incite violence by asserting that he would forcibly take over the SAD head office.
Senior leaders, including Hira Singh Gabria, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Darbara Singh Guru, Amarjit Singh Chawla, Gurpreet Singh Rajukhanna, Yadwinder Singh Yadu and Paramjit Singh Dhillon spoke on the occasion and highlighted the sacrifice made by Karnail Singh Isru. They also spoke on how Punjabis have been betrayed by their own country after Independence with the water of Punjab being diverted to Rajasthan even as the state was denied its own capital.
They also spoke on how the new “robber barons” of Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal had tried to take over the fertile land of the state by passing an order to acquire 65,000 acres of land. The leaders said while this land grab had been averted by the strong resistance put up by the SAD which held four massive ‘dharnas’ besides announcing the start of a morcha, the party would continue to resist all the anti-people activities of AAP and would hold public protests against them.
