Entertainment publicist Ribha Sood has been appointed to the post of Young Professional in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India.
Ribha, whose expertise lies in areas of journalism, writing, interviewing and public relations, will assume her new role at the ministry in the last week of July 2023.
Prior to her appointment, Ribha held a position as a public relations manager at the regional entertainment channel, Pitaara TV, and over-the-top platform (OTT) Chaupal, in Chandigarh, until June this year. Ribha, who started her media career as a Correspondent with Hindustan Times, Mohali, in 2018, brings a new perspective to the development of communication needs of the Central government through various media platforms.
A reporter, columnist and an editor, Ribha is an alumnus of MCM DAV College for Women, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and holds degrees in public administration, education, literature and mass communication, providing her a strong career foundation.
The prestigious post of Young Professional in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is given to young experts (between 18-32 years) to provide professional inputs in policy making. Only a few candidates from all over the country are selected by the competent authority in the Ministry, based on a written examination and personal interaction. In 2019, the Ministry invited applications for 35 Young Professionals, however, this year the number of applications for the post was increased to 75, providing more opportunities to the youth.
